British Made robes
Our small-scale manufacturers are based in Yorkshire and Derbyshire. This dream team is highly skilled with generations of knowledge and experience. They support the design and production of our beautiful garments that are handmade with love, care and attention to detail.
The art of extracting colour from plants, dating back to 2600 BC, has been replaced by the use of chemicals and synthetic dyes that are not only bad for the environment, but can also cause allergies. Using plants to dye our fabrics not only celebrates the natural beauty of our environment but also provides delicate colours with slight variations and pigmentations that are unique to each garment.
Kate Cullen lives in the beautiful Cotswolds and creates our naturally dyed fabrics using the flowers, berries and trees around her. Kate loves a good cup of tea and her favourite quote is by Georgia O'Keeffe: "I found I could say things with colour and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for."
The colour for our Celaeno Robe is made using the pigment from birch bark
The lace we use is produced by Cluney Lace Company in Derbyshire, owned by the ninth generation of the Mason family, who have produced beautiful lace in the same purpose-built factory since 1845. Working in the textile industry for over 250 years, they still use traditional manufacturing methods.
