We source 100% bamboo silk (viscose derived from bamboo) and 100% organic cotton that is produced by fair-trade organisations in India.

Why we love bamboo silk:
•    It is breathable like cotton and cool to the touch
•    Bamboo is fast growing and does not require replanting; it is regarded as highly renewable and sustainable
•    Bamboo requires no pesticides for growth and supplies 30% more oxygen than trees
•    Our bamboo silk fabrics are safely dyed using GOTS approved non-azo dyes, ensuring the production process is eco-friendly

Why not use standard silk?

We all know the feel of silk, but did you know that in order to make the fabric, thousands of silk worms die horribly in the process.

Silk is the fibre that silkworms weave to make their cocoons – outer casings that protect them during the pupal stage. But most of the insects used by the silk industry don’t live past this stage, because they are boiled or gassed alive inside their cocoons, which causes the cocoons to begin unravelling so that workers can obtain the silk threads. Some 6,600 silkworms are killed to make just 1 kilogram of silk.” – PETA

How to care for your bamboo silk and organic cotton robe:

Please follow the instructions on the care label. We recommend hand washing, using non bio detergent and laying flat to dry. Iron on a low heat and avoid naked flames. Always treat with care.
